Depression

Specialist Support to Help You Feel More Like Yourself Again

Depression can make everyday life feel heavy, overwhelming, or disconnected. You might find yourself withdrawing, losing motivation, or struggling to enjoy things that once felt meaningful. For many people, depression also brings intense self‑criticism, guilt, or a sense of hopelessness that feels difficult to shift.

You don’t have to navigate this alone. I’m Tamara, a BABCP‑accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist specialising in Depression, Low Self‑Esteem, and PTSD/Trauma. I offer warm, structured, evidence‑based CBT to help you understand what keeps low mood going and support you to rebuild confidence, motivation, and emotional resilience.

With experience delivering high‑intensity CBT at NHS Step 3, I regularly work with people experiencing moderate to severe depression, long‑standing low mood, and complex emotional difficulties. My approach is steady, compassionate, and grounded in 17 years of mental health practice.

Understanding Depression

Depression affects people in different ways. You may recognize some of the following:

  • Persistent low mood or sadness

  • Loss of interest in things you used to enjoy

  • Feeling numb, empty, or disconnected

  • Difficulty concentrating or making decisions

  • Fatigue or exhaustion

  • Sleep changes

  • Feeling worthless, guilty, or like a burden

  • Withdrawing from others

  • Feeling stuck or unable to move forward

Depression is not a personal failure. It’s a pattern that develops over time — and with the right support, it can be understood and changed.

How CBT Helps with Depression

CBT is one of the most effective, evidence‑based treatments for depression. It helps you:

  • Understand the cycle that keeps low mood going

  • Identify unhelpful thinking patterns

  • Reduce self‑criticism and hopelessness

  • Rebuild motivation and energy

  • Increase meaningful activity

  • Develop practical tools to manage difficult emotions

  • Create long‑term resilience

Together, we’ll explore what’s been keeping you stuck and work towards small, manageable changes that build momentum over time.

My Approach

  • Warm, steady, and down‑to‑earth

  • Structured CBT with clear goals

  • A pace that matches your needs

  • Practical strategies you can use between sessions

  • Trauma‑informed work when depression is linked to past experiences

  • A collaborative space where you feel understood, not judged

Many clients tell me they appreciate having therapy that feels safe and supportive, while also giving them clear direction and tools to help them move forward.

Who I Work Best With

I’m particularly experienced with people who:

  • Feel stuck in long‑term depression

  • Struggle with self‑criticism or low self‑worth

  • Have tried therapy before but didn’t feel fully understood

  • Experience depression alongside trauma or anxiety

  • Want a structured, evidence‑based approach with warmth and compassion

What to Expect

We’ll begin by understanding your experiences and what you want from therapy. From there, we’ll work together to build a plan that feels achievable and meaningful. Sessions are collaborative, supportive, and focused on helping you make real progress.
